What are the current FDIC limits?

The standard deposit insurance amount is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category.

How do I know that my deposits are within the FDIC insurance limits?

You can use the FDIC’s Insurance Coverage Calculator EDIE. EDIE let’s consumers know, on a per-bank basis, how the insurance rules and limits apply, what’s insured and what portion (if any) exceeds coverage limits at the bank. EDIE also allows you to print a report for your records.

EDIE can calculate the insurance coverage for Personal Accounts – deposits held by people in single accounts, joint accounts, POD/ITF accounts, living trust accounts, irrevocable trust accounts, and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs); Business Accounts – deposits held by corporations, partnerships, and organizations, both for-profit and not-for-profit; and Government Accounts – deposits help by public units such as school districts, cities, municipalities, counties, and states.
